Hemoaccess Valve System
The CreatiVasc Hemoaccess Valve System (HVS) is considered a major breakthrough in the fight to reduce the universal complications that are associated with arteriovenous (AV) grafts. The patented CreatiVasc HVS device provides a much sought-after solution to the myriad of complications now universally associated with AV grafts. The proprietary HVS device:
- Allows normal blood flow through the artery and vein at the AV graft site until dialysis is needed.
- A valve can be activated in a variety of ways to open the flow of blood through the AV graft tube, allowing the patient access to the dialysis process.
- The valve system can then be flushed with saline and closed off when the dialysis session is completed, allowing for normal blood flow through the vein and artery.
By limiting the flow of blood through the implanted AV graft to only when the patient is in dialysis, a broad spectrum of complications can likely be significantly reduced. The CreatiVasc Hemoaccess Valve System is currently going through the FDA approval process. It was one of five winners of the History Channel’s Innovation Awards for 2006, out of over 4,000 entries.
