CreatiVasc Medical is developing innovative solutions to the devastating complications associated with vascular access, a field that has demonstrated little innovation in the past 40 years.

Vascular access refers to the operations designed to connect patients with kidney failure to dialysis machines. Every patient on hemodialysis must undergo a vascular access procedure to receive treatment. These patients almost universally suffer repetitive complications related to these procedures.  It is paradoxical that the very operation that sustains life, for those patients on hemodialysis, is also a major cause of suffering, as well as ever increasing medical costs.

There are two general categories of vascular access, which include:

Significant complications occur with both of these vascular access procedures.  AV fistulas are often difficult to locate in the arm.  Errant needle cannulation of the fistula can result in significant bleeding or bruising of the arm, or can cause the fistula to clot.  AV grafts frequently clot, develop pseudoaneurysms, or can bleed excessively after the dialysis needles are removed.  Vascular access procedures can also disrupt the normal blood flow to the extremity resulting in nerve damage, or finger ulceration.

CreatiVasc Medical’s strategy is to develop, mature, and commercialize innovative devices that provide breakthrough approaches that address the universal complications described above, complications that affect the quality of life of every dialysis patient.
