Board of Managers

CreatiVasc Medical is governed by a five-member Board of Managers. The Board focuses on the strategic, business, and financial management of the company, focusing especially on its aggressive "3 Year Plan" goals and milestones. In addition to Dr. Cull, the CreatiVasc Board is comprised of experienced individuals, several of whom have successfully started up medical device companies and managed innovations through the FDA approval process.

Dr. David L. Cull

Dr. Cull has over 15 years experience in vascular access surgery and the management of vascular access complications. He is the founder of CreatiVasc and the inventor of the four initial hemoaccess devices. Dr Cull received his M.D. degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in 1990 and his vascular surgery fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia in 1992. Between 1992 and 1997 he served as staff vascular and Chief of Vascular Surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Since moving to Greenville, South Carolina in 1997, he has devoted approximately 75% of his surgical practice to vascular access surgery. He is a nationally-recognized expert in the field, who has written several book chapters and journal articles on vascular access. Most recently the History Channel named him as one of the five finalists (out of 4,000 entries) for the Innovation of the Year for 2006. Dr. Cull also serves as: - Director, Vascular Access Program at the Greenville Hospital System - Professor of Clinical Surgery at the USC School of Medicine - Director of Clinical Research and Chief Research Editor for the Academic Department of Surgery of the Greenville Hospital System

Joel S. Stevenson, Jr.

Currently serves as Executive Director of the University of South Carolina (USC) Business Incubator in Columbia, SC.

Stevenson has expanded the USC incubator from 5,000 square feet with two companies to its current size of 40,000 square feet with 42 companies.  During his tenure as director of the center, twelve companies have graduated from its oversight, created 563 jobs and raised $29 million in equity for the companies, and none of this capital was provided by the University. 

Stevenson also serves as Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the nationally acclaimed Moore School of Business at USC.  Prior to heading the USC incubator, he was Principal of J. C. Stevenson & Associates, a strategic planning and sales / marketing consulting company.  He also served as a mentor to companies within the Georgia Tech Business Incubator. 

Stevenson is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management. 

He was a finalist for Small Business Person of the Year in South Carolina in 1986.

Dr. Shalaby W. Shalaby

Founder & President of Poly-Med, Anderson, SC.  Began as small start-up in 1993, now a leader in proprietary polymers and biomaterial technology.

Dr. Shalaby has created innovative drug delivery, proprietary drug delivery systems for the controlled release of antimicrobial agents and antibiotics; radiochemical sterilization technology for use in medical devices; development of a patented absorbable tissue adhesive and wound closure devices for use in surgical and minimally invasive procedures; and development of a patented absorbable liquid gel-former for pharmaceutical and biomedical applications as well as a number of other biomedical and pharmaceutical innovations.

Dr. Shalaby has a diverse academic background (undergraduate in chemistry, botany, and pharmacy, M.S. in textiles, Ph.D. in organic chemistry and Ph.D. in polymer science) and over 30 years of extensive industrial and academic experience in polymers and several health care technology areas, with specific expertise in advanced materials research and development, molecular and engineering design of biomaterials, patenting, licensing, and acquiring new technologies.

Dr. Shalaby’s academic appointments include the post of Professor of Bioengineering at Clemson University as well as adjunct appointments at Rutgers University and the University of Connecticut.

In industry, he served as a member of the Ethicon, Inc. (a Johnson & Johnson company) Research and Development team, and prior to this, Manager of the Johnson & Johnson Polymer Technology Center.

Tim Reed

Married to Susan Thomas Reed for twenty plus years, has three daughters and many challenges. Tim is a graduate of Clemson University with Industrial Management major with a marketing emphasis.

Worked in the frozen food industry for twenty years and served on many trade associations and currently serving as a volunteer to the community and father helping to raise three daughters. Tim is working in miscellaneous business ventures and real estate investing and is an agent for C. Dan Joyner Real Estate at their Keowee office.    

Tim is the former Campaign Chair and Board Chair of the United Way of Greenville, served on the Boards of Phillis Wheatley, board chair, The American Red Cross. Tim is the past Chair of the Clemson Board of Visitors and serves on the Clemson Real Estate Foundation and Clemson Foundation. Other activities include serving as a Trustee of Columbia Theological Seminary, Metropolitan Arts Council Board, board of United Way, Graduate Greenville, and Greenville Chamber of Commerce.  He is a board member of Peoples National Bank in Easley and serves on the board of SC Launch as the Clemson representative and currently organizing an angel investing fund in the upstate of SC. 

Tim is an elder at Westminster Presbyterian serving in several capacities and various committees. He is also active Greenville High serving in differing areas. He enjoys family time and several sports that fill his extra time.
